Clinicians can use the following resources to help people that have autism and/or a learning disability make informed choices about their sexual health.
The first resource is a series of top tips for clinicians to consider using before, during and after an appointment.
The second resource is an editable letter to be sent to the patient and carer before an appointment, to help them prepare for the questions that they will be asked.
These resources have been piloted with people taking valproate, and clinicians stated that they led to better, more informative and more enjoyable conversations.
If you would like to practice these conversations please book onto the Valproate: the hard conversations focal point.
