Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

The NHS Long Term Plan cites the importance of digital technologies within healthcare. Advances in technology will provide convenient ways for patients to access advice and care. New developments in healthcare apps and digital monitoring devices will allow people to take control of their own healthcare journey.

This programme will help you to understand what new digital technologies are available and how these can be applied within your own practice. It will also support you to improve your confidence in the use and application of data and technology.

Learning outcomes

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • describe digital healthcare and how it is relevant to your practice and users of your service
  • recognise how digital technologies can improve patient safety
  • identify the various data sources that can be used to support your practice and enable people to self-manage their long-term conditions

  • signpost people to appropriate digital resources to optimise their healthcare.
