Completion of this course and the associated assessment is required for the Medicines Optimisation and Patient Safety domain of the 2026/27 Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS).

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:
- describe the pathophysiology, diagnostic tests, signs and symptoms associated with asthma
- demonstrate how guidelines are used to provide optimum care for individual people with asthma
- examine whether a person’s asthma treatment is appropriate, recognising when treatment needs to be increased or decreased
- implement a holistic approach to support people with asthma, considering all factors which influence their asthma control
- support people to self-manage their asthma while demonstrating a person-centred approach.
