NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

CPPE Optimise programmes

Atrial fibrillation (AF): Focus on direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs)

Aim

The purpose of this programme is to increase your knowledge, skills and confidence in supporting people living with atrial fibrillation to reduce their stroke risk through optimisation of direct-acting oral anticoagulants, taking a shared decision-making approach.

Background learning

The Atrial fibrillation (AF): Focus on direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs) Optimise programme assumes some prior knowledge of the topic. If you wish to revise your knowledge, you may find the CPPE Fundamentals of cardiovascular therapeutics e-course Unit 2: Atrial fibrillation helpful as an optional learning resource. This e-course unit takes around two to three hours.

Small group learning

This workshop involves 20 minutes of preparation for each participant and a 40-minute group session. During the small group learning session, activities will allow learners to test their knowledge, debate controversial topics, make justified clinical decisions and practice communicating with patients and/or other healthcare professionals.
