From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Palliative care open learning programme

Our Palliative care open learning programme will help pharmacy professionals to improve the continuity of care for patients with terminal illness. It has been updated to include the latest national policies and guidelines.

 

This learning programme includes the latest sources of information, data, policies and recommendations to help you in your day-to-day practice. It looks at medicines management for various syptoms and areas that may affect the patient, including: 

  • constipation
  • depresssion
  • fatigue and breathlessness
  • nausea and vomiting
  • nutrition
  • pain
  • side-effects.

 

You will be encoto look at care pathways and identify contacts in your local area to increase communication between healthcare professionals and improve continuity of care. There is a stimulating commentary from a patient and their carers perspective and some case studies.

 

Pallitive care open learning is suitable for pharmacy professionals working in all sectors of pharmacy practice. It will help you to provide advice to support patients who are receiving palliative care and their family and carers.
