This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

CPPE launches new Deprescribing online workshop

The National overprescribing review published in September 2021 by the Department for Health and Social Care outlines ‘a plan to reduce overprescribing to make patient care better and safer, support the NHS, and reduce carbon emissions’. The report highlights that overprescribing is a serious problem within health systems.

Do you know what deprescribing means and how you can take a person-centred and shared approach to prescribing in your consultations? Our new online workshop aims to support you to develop your knowledge and skills to take a shared approach to safe and effective deprescribing.

In this workshop, we will introduce you to tools, such as STOPP-START or NO-TEARS that can help support you with safe and effective deprescribing.

We will also help you to apply deprescribing principles to your practice. This 2.5-hour evening workshop will highlight how to take a stepwise approach to the process of deprescribing. The workshop also includes post-workshop activities including a case study, which can be worked through individually, as a team learning opportunity or with a learning community network of peers.

You can find more information or book your place on a workshop on the programme overview page.
