NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Polypharmacy learning campaign - week one

Today we launch our six week Polypharmacy campaign of learning. We hope by now you have received your Polypharmacy distance learning programme.

Our first task asks you to Start at home. Think about a family member or friend who is taking lots of medicines. Have a conversation with them about the impact this has on their life. Ask them if there is one thing you could do to make their medicines less of a burder. Together, identify one priority issue that you could tackle. Listen to our podcast from a patient who is taking multiple medicines, and listen to what his priorities are.

This year you will also have the chance to earn a virtual badge, to recognise the achievement of completing all six challenges in the campaign. The badge will be displayed on the Badges collection page on the My CPPE section of the website and there will be chances to earn additional badges in the future.

We’d love to hear some of the priority issues you identify, so share your findings on Facebook Twitter by using the hashtag #polypharmacy and tagging us @cppeengland
