Digital technology and clinical informatics are no longer optional in healthcare – they are integral to safe, effective and patient-centred practice.
With this in mind, CPPE has launched its new Digital healthcare learning gateway, providing pharmacy professionals with the knowledge and confidence to thrive in a digitally enabled NHS.
The NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England emphasises the move from analogue to digital, with the Lord Darzi review highlighting technology’s potential to improve productivity and patient outcomes, particularly through innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI).
Pharmacy professionals are at the forefront of this shift, increasingly expected to adopt digital solutions such as electronic prescribing, electronic patient records and clinical decision support tools.
The CPPE Digital healthcare gateway aligns with the Health and Care Digital Capabilities Framework and helps learners explore how digital systems and informatics shape everyday pharmacy practice.
Flexible and interactive, the gateway is suitable for all pharmacy professionals –whether you’re starting your digital journey or developing advanced expertise. Learning can be completed at your own pace, allowing you to apply insights directly into practice.
Ultimately, the gateway aims to empower professionals to embed digital best practice for the benefit of patients, teams and the wider health system.
Rahul Singal, Chief Pharmacy & Medicines Information Officer for NHS England, said:
"As the use of technology in healthcare continues to grow rapidly, it is essential that the pharmacy workforce is equipped with the digital skills and capabilities needed to effectively use these technologies in practice.
"To support this transformation, the national NHS England pharmacy digital workforce task and finish group is pleased to have collaborated with CPPE to create the online digital learning gateway.
"We strongly encourage all pharmacy professionals to explore and engage with the gateway as a valuable resource to support their development of essential digital competencies."
