NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Work with CPPE

You can use your skills and expertise as an educator and trainer to work with CPPE. You may want to join our team and work for CPPE, delivering workshops or developing learning. Or you may want to use your clinical expertise and write case studies, learning content or assessment questions for our learning programmes. If you only have a limited amount of time to spare, you may want to take part in the pilot stage of the development of our learning.

Expert, reviewer or programme guardian

We engage experts from across clinical specialties in the development and maintenance of our learning programmes to ensure they reflect pharmacy in practice. These roles include:

  • writing content and creating case studies
  • undertaking an expert review of a completed programme before publication
  • keeping our programmes up to date (programme guardian role).

If you would like to get involved, please let us know your speciality and the role you are interested in by emailing us at: info@cppe.ac.uk

Piloting programmes

As part of our quality assurance process, we pilot all our learning programmes with pharmacy professionals who fit the criteria of the target audience. This can include pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, assistants or dispensers from community, hospital, primary care, prison services, military or academia. If you are interested in getting involved, please register your details by emailing us at: info@cppe.ac.uk
