NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Enhance your education and training skills

We offer a range of resources that can help you to develop yourself as a pharmacy educator or trainer as well as enabling you to use our materials as you support others.

We provide high-quality learning for you to:

  • train teams of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants or medicines counter assistants in all sectors of the profession
  • support pre-registration trainees (pharmacists or pharmacy technicians)
  • educate students on MPharm, national vocational qualification (NVQ) or qualification and credit framework (QCF) programmes.

You can set up your own group and use our materials to structure and underpin your learning sessions. We call these groups learning communities and you can find out more about leading a learning community here. We have a variety of learning topics for you to choose from.

Play your part in helping the profession to deliver person-centred consultations. Lead by example and complete our consultation skills learning and assessment. Encourage and support your colleagues to do the same.

Your whole team can learn together using our online resource www.theLearningpharmacy.com™. It’s fun, easy to access and free to use. Learning floors cover topics such as antibacterials, depression, palliative care, sexual health and supporting carers. We also provide step-by-step support for the community pharmacy teams to engage with NHS England's Quality Payment Scheme

Enhance the skills of a team of educators and trainers that you manage by commissioning CPPE to deliver an in-house facilitator training day.
