On this page you can find all of CPPE's resources relating to Polypharmacy.
In September 2021, the Department of Health and Social Care published a review into the use of medication and overprescribing. The review defines ‘inappropriate or problematic polypharmacy’ as the prescribing of multiple medications inappropriately or where the intended benefits of the medications prescribed are not realised. There are already many ways in which pharmacy professionals can address these issues. Our campaign, video wall and programmes will give you the ideas and skills you need to ensure all of your patients’ medicines are appropriate, and to take action on those that aren’t
CPPE designed this campaign for pharmacy professionals to highlight the risks patients face if they are taking unnecessary or problematic medicines. Everyone has a role to play in spotting the risk factors for polypharmacy and taking action to ensure patients get the most from their medicines. The campaign challenges are just as relevant today as they were in 2016.
