Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Leadership for pharmacy professionals

We have developed this learning portfolio as part of CPPE’s Leadership for pharmacy professionals resources. The learning and activities in these resources will help you to think about ways in which you can develop your leadership behaviours. Ideally, you will work through the activities in this resource with colleagues in a learning community but you may choose to undertake them on your own.

Learning objectives

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • identify emerging trends and potential developments that may impact on pharmacy practice in the future
  • create a vision for change and identify how to communicate the vision to different stakeholders
  • use data to improve the quality of services and improve health outcomes for patients
  • discuss how leadership and culture within your organisation or department impact on candour, openness and transparency
  • develop the capability of your team to enable them to meet future challenges
  • identify good people management practices and consider your role in applying them in your workplace
  • identify opportunities to work collaboratively with other teams.
