PLEASE NOTE: In 2026, following public consultation, new standards for Superintendent Pharmacists and Responsible Pharmacists, and Rules for Responsible Pharmacists will be published by the GPhC.

The GPhC have published Legislation on pharmacy supervision: FAQs with further information about the changes.

This Responsible pharmacist e-learning will be reviewed and updated accordingly.

This e-learning programme will enable you to familiarise yourself with the key issues presented by the responsible pharmacist requirements. The programme focuses on nine key learning points. For each learning point there are a number of case study scenarios that reflect how the requirements may impact on your day-to-day practice.

Learning outcomes

On completion of all aspects of this programme you should be able to:

  • describe the role of the responsible pharmacist in registered pharmacies
  • explain the law and good practice guidance in relation to:
    • displaying a notice
    • the pharmacy record
    • pharmacy procedures
    • absence from the pharmacy
  • apply the responsible pharmacist requirements to practice situations which present difficult dilemmas.
