NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Making an impact across systems

  • Released: 02/2021
  • Reviewed: 12/2022
  • Study time: 10h:30m

This event is only for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who are taking part in one of the primary care extended education pathways.

This online workshop forms part of the first module for the Primary care pharmacy education pathway. It is a full-day online workshop which you are expected to complete early in your training after you have attended the first two Primary Care Pharmacy essential skills workshops.

The overall aim of this workshop is to support you, as a pharmacy professional, to become embedded in your new role in your Primary Care Network (PCN) through building networks, working with colleagues, and planning how your role will develop.

You will also facilitate part of the workshop to give you the tools to lead education events in your organisation.

Learning outcomes

After working through the pre-workshop material and attending the online workshop you will be able to:

  • identify your response to change and how you can continue to progress your role
  • discuss how you would respond to challenging situations
  • critique e-portfolio entries
  • create an action plan to make an impact in primary care as your role develops, including facilitating meetings, e-portfolio entries, and a quality improvement project.
