Respiratory clinical assessment skills: Primary care pathways

  • Released: 01/2021
  • Reviewed: N/A
  • Study time: 11h:0m

This interactive online workshop builds on the person-centred clinical history taking and examination skills introduced in Module 1 of the pathway. It will focus on the skills relating to respiratory symptoms. Designed and led by experienced GPs, the online workshop will include case studies to apply learning to practice. Learners must complete the Clinical assessment skills e-course prior to attending this workshop. We estimate the tasks in the e-course to equate to 10-12 hours of learning in total depending on your learning style and previous knowledge.

This workshop is only for pharmacists who are taking part in one of the primary care extended education pathways.

Learning objectives

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • apply history taking skills in a respiratory context, including recognition of red flags
  • explain how to perform a systematic respiratory clinical examination
  • demonstrate a patient-centred approach to the use of respiratory clinical assessment skills.
