With units on migraine, epilepsy, stroke, acquired brain injury, myasthenia gravis and motor neurone disease, this digital course supports person-centred care for people with neurological conditions. 

It will help you to build the knowledge, skills and confidence to make a meaningful difference for people living with these conditions.

Learning outcomes

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • describe the pathophysiology of neurological conditions and the common symptoms experienced by people living with these conditions
  • discuss the principles of treatment for neurological conditions and the medicines available
  • give examples of ways that you can support the safe and effective transfer of care for people with neurological conditions
  • apply evidence-based guidance to support clinical decision making when supporting people living with neurological conditions
  • support people living with neurological conditions to make shared decisions about their medicines to improve their outcomes
  • take a holistic approach to support people living with neurological conditions, signposting to local and national resources and involving the multidisciplinary team as appropriate
  • adapt your consultation style to support people with neurological conditions who have communication challenges, using a person-centred approach
  • use your learning journal to develop a personal action plan, outlining steps you will take to help people manage their neurological condition.

How to use this programme

We run our e-courses online in Canvas. After booking, if you have not used Canvas before you will be registered by CPPE and informed of your login details. This e-course is self-directed. This means that you can work through the course at a time and pace that suits you. In Canvas there will be a menu on the left for navigating through each area, so that you can access each unit and its content separately.

To activate your e-course booking you need to go to the e-course section of your Learning record and click "Course access information".
