Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Mentoring, feedback and workplace-based assessment

The aim of this workshop is to provide CPPE education supervisors with the knowledge and skills to successfully supervise learners on CPPE education pathways.

Learning objectives

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • reflect on their interpersonal skills and the extent to which they use push and pull behaviours
  • discuss the characteristics of effective feedback
  • identify common myths associated with mentoring
  • develop their own personal definition of mentoring
  • identify suitable questions to ask at each stage of the GROW model
  • recognise the skills and techniques used by a mentor
  • structure a mentoring discussion using the GROW model
  • discuss the strengths of workplace based assessment
  • recognise the challenges of workplace based assessment and discuss strategies to overcome these challenges.
