Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Getting the best start to the pre-registration training year - online

This is workshop 1 in a series of three online workshops for pharmacy professionals who will be tutors or supervisors for pre-registration trainee pharmacists employed as part of the HEE pilot for pre-registration pharmacists in general practice.

Each online workshop lasts for 90 mins

  • Workshop 1: Getting the best start to the pre-registration training year
  • Workshop 2: Giving feedback and assessing evidence
  • Workshop 3: Reviewing progress and assisting trainees who require additional support

The aim of workshop 1 is to support you to provide your trainee with the best possible start to their pre-registration year including induction, agreeing learning contracts, planning learning experiences and discussing expectations of the placement with your trainee.

Learning objectives

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • provide an effective induction for your pre-registration trainee
  • discuss and agree expectations with your trainee
  • develop a personalised learning contract, agreed with your trainee
  • plan learning experiences for your trainee to enable them to demonstrate attributes and capabilities for pre-registration pharmacists working in general practice.

How to use this programme

Our e-workshops are run online using Zoom video conferencing. When you book onto an e-workshop you will automatically be registered onto the Zoom meeting and will receive emails from the meeting organiser about how to join.
