Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

What's new in BNF 76? An event for pre-registration pharmacists

Do you want to know about the new recommendations and information in the BNF? The aim of this event is to enable pre-registration pharmacists to identify how new recommendations and information in the BNF will affect clinical practice. During the event you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues in hospital and community practice on a series of case studies and to start to build your professional network.

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • locate information on changes in the latest edition of the BNF
  • identify solutions in the healthcare setting where the management of a patient is affected by these changes
  • recommend appropriate courses of action based on what you know about a patient and the latest information in the BNF.
