NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

PGDs: Empowering pharmacy technicians to provide services

  • Released: N/A
  • Reviewed: N/A
  • Study time: 2h:0m

This practical, interactive workshop is designed specifically to help pharmacy technicians now authorised to use Patient Group Directions (PGDs) step confidently into your expanding role. You’ll gain the tools and confidence to make safe, informed supply and non-supply decisions, removing the uncertainty that often comes with new clinical responsibilities.

As NHS services grow and more care is delivered through PGDs, pharmacy technicians play a vital role in meeting rising demand closer to home. This workshop helps you build the competence and assurance needed to take on these responsibilities, contribute to the NHS 10 Year Health Plan and drive better access, increased capacity, and high-quality person-centred care.

The Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) will also join the workshops to support, connect and engage with you, offering updates on the profession, available guidance and the benefits of being part of your professional leadership body.

To compliment this workshop, you can also book to attend online PGD support sessions to network with peers in a supportive, safe environment. Book a place here.
