e-course

General practice - the fundamentals of working with GPs (self-directed)

  • Released: 02/2016
  • Study time: 100h:0m
  • Start date: TBC

We have written this e-course to introduce the fundamentals of working in a GP practice. By working through the activities each week you will develop knowledge, skills, experience and behaviours to support your introduction to work in general practice.

This course is the same as the tutor-supported course, but runs as a self-directed version for groups of pharmacy professionals within a region or organisation who want to work through the course together. This option is not recommended if there is no local peer learning group to work through the programme with.

Please refer to FAQs on the GPPTP website for more information about the self-directed course.

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • understand NHS structure and the commissioning landscape in general practice

How to use this programme

Our e-courses are run online. You can take part in a tutor-supported version, which is normally held over a number of weeks, or access the learning materials at other times when the tutor-supported course is not running. The programme runs in Canvas™ and you will be registered by CPPE and informed of your login details.

Learn on your own: If you are not able to join the tutor-supported version of this programme, or would prefer to work through the learning materials on your own you can still access all the learning that is provided in the tutor-supported version. If you take this self-directed route you will not be able to engage with other pharmacists on the course or an online tutor, but you will have access to all the same high-quality materials that you can work through at a time an pace that suits you. You may only be able to take part in this option when we are not running the tutor-supported version of the course.
