The aim of this learning programme is to update your knowledge of the management of type 2 diabetes. We will explore how you apply your knowledge in your sector of practice and help you to better manage this condition, reduce complications and improve outcomes for people with type 2 diabetes.

Learning objectives

On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:

  • explain the principles of management and rationale for different treatments options
  • apply the NICE guideline to support medicines optimisation for patients with type 2 diabetes
  • compare management options in relation to patients’ concurrent conditions
  • make management recommendations to patients, carers and healthcare professionals
  • provide individualised information to help patients make decisions about their treatment options
  • create strategies to address patient concerns about complications arising from type 2 diabetes.
