This programme is designed to support pharmacy professionals in building confidence and competence in the management and prevention of Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) within hospital settings.
Please note: Potential DKA-related complications such as hypoglycaemia, hypophosphataemia and other metabolic disturbances are not covered in this session.
The Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA): Focus on Prevention and Management Optimise programme assumes some prior knowledge of the topic. To refresh your understanding, you can optionally complete Unit 4, Complications Associated with Diabetes, from our Fundamentals of diabetes e-course. Each of the six units takes around two to three hours
This workshop involves 20 minutes of preparation for each participant and a 40-minute group session. During the small group learning session, activities will allow learners to test their knowledge, debate controversial topics, make justified clinical decisions and practice communicating with patients and/or other healthcare professionals.
