NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

CPPE Optimise programmes

Type 2 diabetes: Optimising safe and personalised management

Aim

This Optimise training for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists focuses on type 2 diabetes. It supports your team to build confidence and capability in delivering person-centred, individualised care that enhances safe and effective medicines optimisation for people living with type 2 diabetes.

Background learning

The Type 2 diabetes: Optimising safe and personalised management Optimise training assumes some prior knowledge of the topic.

If you wish to revise your knowledge, you can optionally complete pages 1–8 of Unit 3, Medicines optimisation in diabetes, from our Fundamentals of diabetes e-course. This takes around one hour to complete. Each of the six units in the e-course takes around two to three hours to fully complete.

Small group learning

This workshop involves 20 minutes of preparation for each participant and a 40-minute group session. During the small group learning session, activities will allow learners to test their knowledge, debate controversial topics, make justified clinical decisions and practice communicating with patients and/or other healthcare professionals.
