We are excited to announce the launch of our new Preparing to work in a primary care network or GP practice e-course.

This e-course aims to prepare you for working in general practice or a primary care network (PCN). You will learn about others’ experiences in these settings and be supported to identify your development needs, including signposting to key resources.

The e-course is split into two sections. The first section provides background to the roles and signposting to relevant information and resources, to support you when considering applying for a role in practice. In the second section, you will complete the self-assessment framework and use this to inform your learning needs.

This programme does not aim to replace any other CPPE learning materials. Instead, we recommend that this programme is used to reflect on how your current knowledge, experience and skill set can support you in working in a PCN or GP practice.

This course also takes a new approach to gaining feedback from learners within the course itself. Using integrated survey technology, learners will be able to give feedback in real time and share how they intend to use the learning to shape their practice.

Once you have identified your personal learning needs through completion of the self-assessment framework, the e-course will support you to: 

• outline current legislation to help you recognise and maintain good professional standards
• identify key resources to support the development of your education and research skills
• describe the importance and impact of patient safety, and know how to apply policies and procedures to support this in practice
• identify gaps in your clinical knowledge and know where to locate appropriate resources to address them
• recognise the patient journey across primary care and describe the role that pharmacy professionals working in a PCN or general practice can play in supporting transfer of care
