NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

CPhO's leadership program now open to applicants

We are pleased to announce that the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Pharmacy leaders development programme is now open for applications.

This programme is for experienced pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who aspire to lead large and complex NHS departments, services, teams or systems of care. Across the course, learners develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours they need to become outstanding, compassionate and inclusive leaders who can improve the performance of their teams, all for the ultimate benefit of patients and local communities.

Through a comprehensive mix of residential workshops, optional online specialist study days and small group support, this programme aims to create a cadre of senior pharmacy professionals ready to take on the leadership challenges of the future. A key objective is to make a positive contribution to improving the diversity of senior pharmacy professional leadership positions in the NHS.

Please see the programme landing page for more information and a full overview of the course. Applications close at midday on Monday 17 April.
