NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Become part of CPPE governance

The CPPE Operations and Advisory Board (OAB) has two vacancies for a pharmacy technician and a pharmacy professional offering patient services in a secondary care setting to become members of the board and play a key part in CPPE governance. The OAB brings together CPPE’s diverse stakeholders to share developments and good practice in the organisation more formally. We are keen to hear your thoughts on our learning programmes and processes, and encourage feedback that supports and challenges our work so that we can continue to grow and improve. We host many external and internal groups who monitor and support our organisation. You can learn more about these in our annual report, which will be accessible here in August 2022.

As a member of the OAB, you will have a formal platform where you can directly influence our work, output and processes in a collaborative environment. We want you to help us meet our objective of maintaining high standards and continuing to meet the educational needs of pharmacy professionals, especially as they now have extended roles to play in delivering the NHS Long Term Plan. This is your opportunity to help shape CPPE so that it can provide the best possible educational services to the pharmacy workforce in England.

If you are a pharmacy technician or pharmacy professional offering patient services in a secondary care setting, and would like to contribute to CPPE as a representative of your profession, then please contact our director, Matthew Shaw, at: matthew@cppe.ac.uk to express your interest and learn more about the positions.
