NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Quality Payments Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Places available on the online NHS CPCS essential skills workshop

A limited number of places are still available across the upcoming NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) essential skills workshops.

The NHS CPCS, which launched in October 2019, directs people who may previously have attended a GP or urgent care service to community pharmacy, providing an opportunity for pharmacists to deliver high-quality consultations and further integrate community pharmacy into NHS urgent care pathways.

If you are providing this service, CPPE is delighted to offer you access to a free online workshop to refresh and update your clinical assessment skills.

The workshop is accompanied by a self-directed e-course, with both elements designed to meet the national curriculum for the service so learners can be confident they will cover all relevant competencies.

The single online workshop is facilitated by CPPE tutors, supported by a GP trainer. Participants will work through:

· person-centred approaches to clinical history-taking.

· clinical assessment and red flags.

· clinical transfer, safety netting and making appropriate records.

· a series of case studies to support clinical reasoning.

This is your chance to reflect on your current skills and to practise some of these skills with colleagues in a supportive online environment, with a GP on hand to support you with practical hints and tips.

Each event is restricted to 24 attendees only, therefore places left on our remaining workshops are limited. We expect these places to fill quickly, so ensure you confirm your place today.

Each event will run for three hours and 15 minutes (including a comfort break), with time at the start of each event to help get you accustomed to the online learning environment.

This online workshop is open to all pharmacists across England who have not previously attended one of our face-to-face CPCS or DMIRS workshops. It provides an excellent opportunity to share new ideas and practices with colleagues from around the country.

Workshops are also available with RPS. If you would like more information on the NHS CPCS, and to book your place at one of the upcoming workshops, please visit:
