This year, European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD) takes place on 18 November with World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) across 18-24 November.
Antimicrobial resistance is one of the biggest global threats facing public health today. As resistance increases, everyday infections can become life-threatening and treatment options for diseases become limited.
EAAD and WAAW aim to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance and to encourage best practices among the public and health workers to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.
From the 18 -24 November join us on social media, where we will be posting a range of resources and linking to information relevant to fighting antimicrobial resistance across our channels.
In the meantime, you can visit our Antimicrobial resistance gateway which includes our Antimicrobial stewardship focus on optimising antimicrobial prescribing programme. There are a range of other materials on the gateway which are available for you to complete online.
Don’t forget to visit the Antibiotic guardian website to choose a pledge or renew your pledge to become an antibiotic guardian and commit to fighting antimicrobial resistance. You can show your support for this important campaign by also encouraging colleagues and friends to do the same.
