NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Quality Payments Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

CPPE launches e-learning on genomics

We are very excited to confirm the launch of our new e-learning programme on the rapidly developing topic of genomics in pharmacy.

Genomics is currently a focus for healthcare development in England, and NHS England supports various initiatives around the incorporation of genomics into day-to-day healthcare provision.

The Introduction to genomics in pharmacy e-learning has been designed to introduce you to genomics and pharmacogenomics, and to highlight the opportunities they can bring to the provision of person-centred care in your area of practice.

We have developed this programme to outline some introductory information about how genomics can be used in pharmacy practice, and what its potential is for improving patient care.

The e-learning is fully accessible online and contains activities that will challenge you to consider your own practice, while providing the opportunity to reflect on the ethical aspects of genomics.

We estimate that the programme will take you two hours to complete, and you can access it now at: www.cppe.ac.uk/programmes/l/genomics-e-01
