NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Quality Payments Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

New NHS CPCS essential skills workshop launched

Is your pharmacy delivering the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS)?

If so, CPPE is pleased to offer you access to a free online workshop to refresh and update your clinical assessment skills.

The service directs people who may previously have attended a GP or urgent care service to community pharmacy. This allows pharmacists to deliver high-quality consultations and further integrate community pharmacy into NHS urgent care pathways.

The workshop is accompanied by a self-directed e-course, which you will receive an invitation for upon booking a workshop place. Both elements are designed to meet the national curriculum for the CPCS, so learners can be confident they will cover all relevant competencies.

This single online workshop is facilitated by CPPE tutors and is supported by a GP trainer. Participants of the workshop will work through:

  • person-centred approaches to clinical history-taking
  • clinical assessment and red flags
  • clinical transfer, safety netting and making appropriate records
  • a series of case studies to support clinical reasoning.

The workshop will give you the chance to reflect on your current skills and practise them with colleagues, in a supportive online environment. There will also be a GP on hand to guide you with practical hints and tips.

This online workshop is open to all pharmacists across England who have not attended one of the face-to-face CPCS or Digital minor illness referral service workshops previously delivered by CPPE.

Each event is restricted to 24 attendees and we expect places to fill up fast, so click here book and confirm your place.

Please note that our online workshops are delivered via Zoom.
