NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Quality Payments Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Updated Dementia focal point workshops open for bookings

We are pleased to announce that we have relaunched our popular Dementia focal point workshop in a refreshed format and it is now available to book through the CPPE website.

There are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. Each person diagnosed with dementia will experience dementia differently, and pharmacy professionals can help to improve the outcomes and support the independence of a person living with dementia.

The updated Dementia focal point workshop will support you to better understand the different types of dementia and the associated risk factors. On completion of the programme, you will be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of these different types of dementia, disease progression and the importance of an early diagnosis.

By engaging with the programme’s content fully, you will develop your knowledge on how to apply a holistic approach and outline the pharmacological treatment options for the management of dementia. This includes supporting people living with dementia, their families and carers by signposting them to appropriate resources and information.

When you book on to this workshop you will be able to access the resources that you need to complete your learning. At the workshop your facilitator will provide any materials for you to refer to and complete during the event.

For more information and to find a workshop near you, visit the Dementia focal point workshop page.
