Today, 18 November 2019, is European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD).
Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest global threats facing public health today. As resistance increases, everyday infections can become life-threatening and treatment options for diseases become limited.
EAAD aims to raise awareness in the public about this threat and encourage responsible use of antibiotics to protect the antibiotics that we currently have.
Here at CPPE, we have pledged to be Antibiotic Guardians to highlight this important issue to the public. Our colleagues at head office in Manchester have proudly committed their support to the campaign, showing their pledges in the picture above.
The Antibiotic Guardian campaign is led by Public Health England to raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance, inviting healthcare professionals and the public to cut the unnecessary use of antibiotics. Antimicrobial stewardship is the responsibility of everyone and you can make your own pledge today by visiting the Antibiotic Guardian website. Show your support for this important campaign by also encouraging colleagues and friends to do the same and keep antibiotics working.
