NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Quality Payments Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Latest Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults: Level 2 e-assessment launched

We are pleased to announce that we have launched the latest version of our Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults: Level 2 e-assessment.

This e-assessment is linked with the CPPE Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults – a guide for the pharmacy team e-learning and assesses you on the learning objectives within that programme. These learning objectives include being able to describe different types of abuse, knowing how to recognise the potential signs of abuse and knowing the most appropriate course of action to take if you suspect abuse or neglect.

Our Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults – a guide for the pharmacy team e-learning programme covers exactly the same content as before:

  • Section 1 – legislation, how to recognise different type of abuse and the safeguarding responsibilities of pharmacy professionals.
  • Section 2 – actions to take if you suspect abuse or neglect and the ability to apply the learning to practice situations.

Based on feedback from our learners, the new version of our Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults: Level 2 e-assessment has been streamlined, reducing it from 30 questions to 20 to support the increasing numbers of learners wishing to refresh their assessment attempts, especially in relation to Declaration of Competence and the Pharmacy Quality Scheme.

Pharmacy professionals who have successfully completed the previous assessment do not need to repeat the assessment until two years after their previous successful completion.

Anyone who is partway through the previous assessment will receive a message to inform them about the new assessment, and will be given the choice to either carry on with the old format assessment or start again on the new more streamlined version.

If you have any questions about the new assessment, please contact: info@cppe.ac.uk.
