NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Quality Payments Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Brand new Prescribing gateway page launched

We are delighted to announce the launch of our brand new gateway page, Prescribing.

This is an essential resource for prescribers at all stages and offers a comprehensive package of learning on a vast range of topics. The page includes case studies that illustrate how prescribing transforms clinical roles, guidance about applying for a course or getting back into prescribing, as well as a huge collection of resources mapped to the ten prescribing competencies which will help you to address your development needs.

Our Prescribing gateway page also has sections with information on how to use the Prescribing Competency Framework, professionalism in prescribing roles, prescribing safely and overcoming barriers to prescribing.

Although the gateway page has been developed with pharmacist prescribers in mind, prescribers from other professions will find the resources within the gateway page equally helpful.

The Prescribing gateway page is extremely versatile and allows you to work at your own pace and focus your prescribing development on your own area of practice. The page aims to support individuals and teams, newly qualified prescribers and those who need a bit of an update, and prescribers in every sector and clinical discipline.

Using this resource will support you to identify personal learning needs in relation to prescribing, develop competence relevant to your scope of practice and plan actions that will build prescribing confidence.

Our Prescribing gateway page is the only resource that is specifically aimed not only at prescribers, but also at those who are looking to train. The page will guide you through a learning needs analysis process which means that you can tailor your learning experience to your own needs.
