NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Pharmacy Quality Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

Why you should sign up to our Mental health e-course

On 18 November, bookings will open for CPPE’s Mental health e-course. The course starts on 6 January, and will run for twelve weeks. The time commitment for each week is approximately 5-6 hours.

Would you like to:

  • feel more confident about supporting people with mental health conditions?
  • learn more about several mental health conditions and how they are managed?
  • explore new person-centred ways to improve outcomes for people with mental health conditions?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then this course is for you.

Our Mental health e-course will equip you with the in-practice knowledge and skills you need to support people with mental health conditions. Taking part will help you to feel more confident in advising and delivering a high quality service to these often vulnerable people.

During the course you will complete eight units including reading, activities and discussions forums, all designed augment and expand your knowledge.

The course covers:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Dementia
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar disorder

We will also consider mental health conditions in older people and children and young adults.

Who is the course for?

It’s suitable for all pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists working in any setting with an interest in helping people with mental health conditions. Pharmacy professionals may meet people with mental health conditions in every setting of practice: from community pharmacies, GP surgeries and hospitals to secure environments and online consultations. Although this is not necessarily a course for those already working in mental health, if the field is new to you – or if you would like to brush up on your knowledge and skills – then please join in!
