From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

The new initial education and training for pharmacy technician registration includes accuracy checking, meaning that pharmacy technicians of the future will be final accuracy checkers.


Accuracy checking pharmacy technician programme

Have you been trained to perform a final accuracy check yet? If not, don’t get left behind. The CPPE Accuracy checking pharmacy technician (ACPT) programme develops a range of skills including communication, leadership and accuracy checking. Our ACPT programme is free to pharmacy technicians working in community, Health and Justice, hospitals in the North of England and London and the South East, as it is fully funded by Health Education England.

Clinical calculations for pharmacy professionals e-learning

Our Clinical calculations for pharmacy professionals e-learning is perfect if you are a pharmacy technician working in, or aspiring to work in a clinical role. This e-learning will take you through four different case studies where you will learn how to calculate safe doses of medicines. This includes calculations for body weight, creatinine clearance and conversions between different formulations in different clinical scenarios.
