NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Quality Payments Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

New Leading for change cohorts launched

We are delighted to announce that we have released the latest cohorts of our Leading for change programme. This programme is fully funded and is open to mid-to-senior grade pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, who work in primary or secondary care and who are working at, or towards, advanced level practice.

Our Leading for change programme aims to equip you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to lead in medicines optimisation to deliver patient outcomes and take on challenges effectively.

The programme will also help you to reflect on your own leadership style against leadership frameworks and evaluate your strengths and areas for development.

The programme takes a blended learning approach and consists of four online modules supported by two regional workshops and workplace-based learning experiences, delivered over six months.

Applicants are required to complete an online application form with a statement detailing their reasons for applying and how they plan to use the programme to support their organisation. Before applying, you must have a project in mind, and this will be confirmed at the start of the programme.

Upcoming closing dates for applications include:

  • Midlands and the East – 1 April
  • North – 8 April
  • London and the South East – 29 April
  • South – 20 May
