NHS priorities

Whether it’s to prepare for the next Quality Payments Scheme deadline, or to increase your confidence in helping people with a learning disability, this section provides topic-specific pages that link to current NHS priorities. This section will support you in keeping your knowledge and skills up to date in order to provide high-quality pharmacy services and be service-ready.

Clinical pharmacy

Our clinical portfolio is expanding on a frequent basis, helping you to advance your knowledge and skills and deliver medicines optimisation in practice for all sectors of pharmacy. From two new focal points a year to our small group learning for hospital pharmacists – Optimise – this section focuses on clinical pharmacy, diseases and therapeutics.

Public health

The public health agenda is embedded in pharmacy, yet topics such as emergency contraception or stop smoking support are as prevalent as ever. As well as our public health workshops, use this section to access a wide range of resources to assure and maintain your competence, all underpinned by the Declaration of Competence system.

CPPE launch new workshop dates, including for new Asthma focal point

Our April to September workshop dates have launched and are now available to book through the CPPE website.

The workshops cover a variety of topics to suit your learning and development needs from Hypertension and prevention of cardiovascular disease to Consultation skills in general practice.

We are delighted to announce that April is also the launch of our new Asthma focal point workshop.

Asthma is a common lung condition that affects people of all ages and causes occasional breathing difficulties. The symptoms of asthma include wheeziness, breathlessness and coughing, which can be controlled with treatments.

The workshop aims to help pharmacy professionals in all sectors consider the support they can offer to people who have asthma. The programme will apply medicines optimisation principles and develop the skills needed to examine whether a person’s asthma treatment is appropriate.

On completion of the learning programme, learners will be equipped to enable people to self-manage their asthma with a personalised asthma action plan.

Our workshops are local learning courses facilitated by a CPPE tutor, who will provide any materials for you to refer to and complete during the event. Most workshops take place in the evening, but some are all-day events. Click here to book a place on a workshop near you.
