We have designed a new type of assessment for the Clinical medication review: a person-centred approach e-course. Each assessment looks at two patient cases which focus on different therapeutic areas such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and type 2 diabetes.
Once you have entered the first case, the patient’s clinical information is presented to you via a medication review form.
This helps form the pharmacy professional’s agenda for the medication review. Clinical knowledge around therapeutics and national guidance is assessed using a series of true/false questions.
Application to practice is then assessed by presenting the patient’s story and asking you to balance this with their own agenda and then make a judgement on a series of recommendations linked to the patients’ issues, such as blood pressure management.
The assessment is open to all pharmacy professionals – regardless of whether they have completed the Clinical medication review: a person-centred approach e-course or not – and may be helpful for those who are new to clinical medication review in general practice.
