Features of CPPE programmes

Themes

We have divided our portfolio of programmes into different themes. They should enable you to navigate easily through our full learning portfolio. Within each theme you will find all the programmes and assessments associated with it and you can choose from a format that suits your learning style.

Each theme has a different colour, which is used on the covers of programmes within that theme.

Learning competencies

CPPE has linked all of its learning programmes to the RPSGB competencies for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. This will make it easier for you to connect your professional practice to your learning needs and activities. We have selected only the general competencies. For further information visit www.uptodate.org.uk

We have also linked the learning in our focal point units, learning@lunch modules and our open learning programmes to the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF). For further information about KSF visit the the ‘Publications’ section on www.dh.gov.uk

 Downloadable PDF documents

Many of our programmes can be downloaded or have associated paper documents which can be downloaded. The icon is used to indicate if a programme or part of it can be downloaded. You can only download a PDF document for a programme if you have logged in first.

CPPE categories

We recognise that people have different learning needs and that not every CPPE learning programme is suitable for every pharmacist or pharmacy technician. Some of our programmes contain core learning while others deliver more complex learning that is only required to support certain roles. We have three categories of learning () and have allocated each programme to an appropriate category.

Core learning. Builds on limited knowledge. Some background reading may be required.

Application of knowledge. Assumes prior learning.

Supporting specialisms. We may not be the provider and will signpost you to other learning providers.

We will not necessarily provide a learning programme in each category for each topic.

Programme guardians

We assign a ‘programme guardian’ to all of our learning programmes and e-assessments. A programme guardian is a recognised expert in an area relevant to the content of a learning programme who will review the programme regularly. From their recommendations we will produce programme updates if necessary.

Programme updates

All of our programmes are reviewed regularly and many now have updates. These are available as PDF documents. They can be found in the programme download list or, if you are registered with CPPE on this website, we will email you updates for programmes you have ordered.
