CPPE local solutions

We have developed and produced CPPE local solutions to offer commissioners and providers of community pharmacy enhanced services access to a range of free learning materials to deliver local workshops. They can arrange to deliver these local workshops either by themselves or by commissioning CPPE tutors to run them.

They have been developed where applicable within the Harmonisation of Accreditation Group (HAG) Competencies and Training Framework (CaTF).

Supporting local training for enhanced services

CPPE local solutions learning resources have been developed to help equip community pharmacy teams to deliver enhanced services.

We realise that local face-to-face meetings or workshops are often needed before new services can start. Using CPPE local solutions materials ensures a common approach to both the content and educational standard of the training provided, and eliminates duplication of time and effort for providers and commissioners. They are flexible and offer plenty of opportunity to add a local flavour.

CPPE local solutions workshops can be delivered by commissioning bodies or they can commission a CPPE pharmacy tutor to run them.

Although most of the planned topics relate to the delivery of enhanced services, some CPPE local solutions resources will link to generic skills or knowledge, such as child protection or the safe management of controlled drugs.

What is available?

CPPE local solutions resources can be downloaded from the portfolio. Depending on the topic, the resources provided may include:

  • a pre-workshop booklet to work through before a local learning event
  • a workshop booklet*, featuring case studies to examine during the event
  • a facilitator’s guide, containing preparation and timing advice for those running the workshops
  • a PowerPoint presentation* for the facilitator to use, which includes guidance on activities, such as role plays.

* Included for some topics only.

Supporting HAG

CPPE local solutions materials have been developed to support the national roll-out of the Harmonisation of Accreditation Group (HAG) Competencies and Training Framework (CaTF) for individual enhanced services. They outline the purpose and design of suitable local training and promote this to PCTs as the standard for future accreditation requirements when commissioning such services.

For some CPPE local solution events, HAG recommends successful completion of a CPPE  open learning porgramme and  e-assessment as a prerequisite.
