Specialist pharmacy

CPPE have developed learning programmes and e-assessments that can support pharmacists who specialise or wish to specialise in a specific area of medicine.

This could be within a hospital trust as a consultant or advanced practitioner or within a community setting as a Pharmacist with Specialist Interest (PhwSI).

Supporting specialism

We have developed a number of programmes to support pharmacists who want to specialise in a specific area. Take a look at the portfolios of our different learning formats. You will find the programmes are listed at the bottom:

Prescribers

We have developed a few programmes and an

e-assessment to support prescribers. We also email a regular newsletter, CPD shots, to prescribers. Visit our prescribers page or go to the prescribers theme in our portfolio.

 Signposting

To further support your personal development, use the Signposting area of our website. It will allow you to find out more about some of the other national learning programmes that may meet your specific learning needs.

Please note we have not reviewed the learning in any of these programmes and so we cannot recommend any of them. The Signposting area is for signposting other providers of learning programmes.

Pharmacists with Specialist Interest (PhwSI)

For community pharmacy and primary care settings, most of our focal point programmes are developed as  and can be a good starting point for you if you are considering becoming a PhwSI in a certain area.

We have also developed some e-assessments that assess specialist practice to support PhwSI. Successful completion of these assessments can be used as part of the evidence required for submission for an area of PhwSI.

For guidance, directions and speciality frameworks for PhwSI, visit the NHS Primary Care Comissioning website.
