Community pharmacy

Community pharmacy

We have supported community pharmacy with CPD opportunities since our formation in 1991.

Many of our programmes are developed to help both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians meet the requirements of the pharmacy contract. Some will support you with learning in a particular area of practice which can then be used to deliver local services.

Programmes for community pharmacy

Our programmes for community pharmacy are diverse in both topic and format choice.

Open learning programmes

A self-study programme, split into manageable sections using activities, practice points and case studies to help you recap the learning. We have over 50 titles and it is our most popular learning format.

 Workshops

In 2010, we launched a new workshop format - Route to revalidation. This new style of workshop will help you to develop a portfolio that could support revalidation as well as keep you up to date with current practice in a clinical topic. They are led by a CPPE tutor and are ideal for networking with other pharmacy colleagues.

 focal point

Launched in 2008, focal point is designed to help you learn with your colleagues and improve the services you offer your patients. You can attend a tutor-led focal point event, set up a learning community or use it for self study. Each programme is developed to give you the opportunity to complete short, clinically focused learning sessions and activities that are relevant for pharmacy professionals working in the community and primary care.

Harmonisation of accreditation for community pharmacy enhanced services

The Harmonisation of Accreditation Group (HAG) develops "Competencies and Training Frameworks" for individual enhanced services, which outline the purpose and design of suitable local training and promote these to PCTs as the standard for future accreditation requirements when commissioning such services. Many CPPE programmes are referenced in the HAG frameworks, including CPPE local solutions.
