Can I attend if I am on the non practising register?


Yes, you should have declared on your booking form that you intend to return to pharmacy practice providing NHS services in England in the next 6 months. You should also have been out of pharmacy practice for at least 3 years.

Do I need to pay for the course?


The charge is £200 for the four-day course. This is a subsidised course and is significantly funded by the Department of Health.

What will CPPE pay for?


CPPE will pay for your food and accommodation.

Will CPPE pay for accommodation the night before the course begins?


CPPE will not cover the cost of an additional night's accommodation.

Do I need to book accommodation with the hotel?


No. Accommodation is automatically booked for you.

How long does the course last?


Days one and three start at 10.00am and finish at 9pm. Days two and four start at 8.30am and finish at 4pm. Attendance on all four days is compulsory.

Do I need to stay for all of it?


Your attendance is compulsory for all four days of the course.

What if I need to cancel my place on the course?


If you cannot attend you must let us know in writing as soon as possible. Please be aware that if you are not able to give us sufficient notice, or you do not turn up, we will charge you a fee. Please refer to the CPPE Return to practice cancellation policy either on the booking form or on the How to book page.

Getting yourself ready for the course


When do I need to plan my travel?


Once you have received confirmation that you can attend, plan your journey as soon as possible to ensure reasonable travel costs.

What time do I need to arrive at the venue?


Coffee and registration start at 9.30am and the course starts at 10am.

What do I need to bring to the course?


You will need to bring your pre-workshop manual. This will be sent to you approximately three weeks before day one of the course.

Do I need internet access?


Yes, some of the CPPE open learning programmes are only available online. If you don't have internet access, try your local library or internet café. Remember, you can only access learning programmes if you are a registered practising pharmacist.

Can my children or partner come with me?


No. Your booking at the hotel is on a single room only basis.

What should I wear?


You are welcome to wear a suit but please don't think you have to. Smart, casual wear (including jeans) is fine.

What if I have any access needs or special dietary requirements?


Let Dave know about any special requirements at dave@cppe.ac.uk at least two months before.

At the course

How many people attend Return to practice?


Approximately 30 pharmacists attend the course. Pharmacists who attend may have different backgrounds and reasons for attending but they will all be preparing to return to pharmacy practice like you.

Will there be any form of assessment?


Yes, there will be a short assessment at the end of day two. You will also have the opportunity to undertake further assessments upon completion of the course.

Will I get a certificate?


Yes, CPPE will provide you with a certificate of attendance at the end of day four.
