To access our learning@lunch modules for group learning you can:
attend a facilitated session within your hospital trust
join or set up a learning community.
For hospital trusts
Only key contacts allocated to our database are able to order modules for learning@lunch facilitated sessions within a trust in England. We can hold up to three contacts per trust on our database. We will email the key contact when we release a new module. Orders for trusts can only be placed by key contacts via our website. Modules have to be downloaded once our printed stocks have been depleted.
To find out more about becoming a key contact or to find out if your trust already has one email us via: info@cppe.ac.uk
Join or set up a learning community
A learning community is a group of pharmacy professionals who meet to study CPPE materials at a time and place that suits them. Our more recent learning@lunch modules can be used by you and your colleagues within a learning community. All the arrangements are completed on our website and we will send you free materials. Have a look at our learning communities pages for more information.
How long will printed booklets be available for?
Printed booklets will be available until our printed stocks are depleted. You can download a PDF document of a module at any time.
What will it cost?
The materials are provided free of charge to hospital pharmacy teams providing NHS services in England. All sectors of pharmacy can download the modules.
Design and format
Can learning@lunch be used as an open learning programme?
The learning programme is supplied as two separate booklets, each taking approximately one hour to complete.
Are the modules paper based?
Flexibility is the key to this programme. The modules will be available as printed booklets (for a limited period) and as a PDF to be downloaded from the CPPE website.
Is there an electronic version?
Yes, an electronic version will be posted on the website when the module becomes available to order.
facilitation
Will CPPE provide support to those pharmacy departments/trusts that do not have suitable facilitators?
CPPE does not provide support to individual pharmacy departments. You may wish to join forces with a neighbouring trust that is holding sessions, or a facilitator from another hospital pharmacy department may be willing to host a group session in your department. CPPE periodically hold facilitation workshops for facilitators of learning@lunch sessions. To register your interest for the next session please contact us via: info@cppe.ac.uk
How much preparation will be involved for the facilitator for each programme?
This depends on a variety of factors. The pilots show an average of four to eight hours may be required.
Is there a teaching element or is it all done in the form of discussion groups?
There is no didactic teaching element. The design is based on small group learning.
What is the ideal number of participants?
This will depend on local circumstances but ideally a maximum of 15 to 20 participants. It works better if the participants are split into small groups of between four and six individuals. Consider two or more facilitators if the numbers are large, or else run several sessions.
Is it necessary to have access to a PowerPoint or an overhead projector to run this programme?
No. All the information needed to run this session will be contained in the facilitator’s guide and the full clinical module. Flipcharts and pens may be all that is necessary.
accreditation
Are we considering linking our programmes towards accreditation for diplomas?
At this stage, there is no plan to link our programme towards accreditation for diplomas.
Does the programme link into the RPSGB competency development criteria?
Yes, we outline some RPSGB competencies that the module may support in booklet 1 of the module.
Does the programme link in with the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF)?
Yes, participants completing the module may use this as evidence for meeting selected KSF dimensions.
Is it compatible with the current CPD format?
Yes, the learning in the programme is linked to the continuing professional development (CPD) recording format (plan and record) developed by RPSGB. Learners can include their participation as a contribution to their CPD record. Additionally, each booklet has been designed to reflect the different stages of the CPD cycle.
Booklet 1: Reflection, planning and action
Booklet 2: Action and evaluation
assessment
How many feedback/evaluation forms will participants need to complete?
We do not include feedback or evaluation forms as part of the programme. Learners are encouraged to complete the online e-assessments and complete a CPD record.
If you participate in a pilot session, there will be a set of evaluation/review forms to support each pilot site as part of our quality assurance procedures.
If you are interested in taking part in a pilot, please join our register by contacting us at info@cppe.ac.uk.
How do I access e-assessments?
You can access e-assessments for learning@lunch modules from the e-assessment portfolio. They have to be completed online on this website.
Can anyone complete the online e-assessments?
To access the learning@lunch online e-assessments, you will have to be a pharmacist, registered pharmacy technician or preregistration student. You will need to log in first with your RPSGB registration number or preregistration number and your CPPE password.
target audience
Is it suitable for pharmacy technicians?
Yes, the programme should be suitable for hospital pharmacy technicians with relevant experience of clinical work and medicines management.
What level is it pitched at?
The level is similar to that of a clinical diploma. It falls into the category of learning.
Can we run sessions with both pharmacists and technicians?
Yes, CPPE actively encourages this approach. The nature of your target audience will be determined by your own local circumstances.
Can we invite a senior house officer or senior registrar to our workshop?
Learning in a multidisciplinary setting can be beneficial. It may also be helpful to have ‘local expertise’ to help you prepare for the session and field difficult clinical questions. You can determine this locally.
How often will new topics be available?
Information about new modules will be updated regularly on the website and our national newsletter news@CPPE
